Christmas shopping is lots of fun and a chore at the same time, so sometimes its better to buy a present you don’t even need to wrap…tickets!
Theatretickets.uk pretty much have a ticket for every show in the West End on sale, so I’ve taken a look at whats on offer and worked out the perfect shows to give to the ones you love this Christmas…
For Mums and Sisters
Girls love a cry as well as a good sing song and Mamma Mia wraps all that up in a neat little bow…especially for those who are fans of ABBA!
The jukebox musical featuring all the hit songs of ABBA has been in the West End since 1999 and inspired the smash hit film starring Meryl Streep.
I’ve seen it twice now and on both occasions I left the theatre with a bounce in my step wanting everyone else to see it too, but it as a gift to make sure they do!
Tickets avaiable here and start at £31.
For Dads and Brothers
Not to tar all men with the same brush, but generally it can be hard to drag boys away from the football on a Saturday afternoon and into the theatre. A weepy musical might not be the thing (stay away from Les Mis) and neither might something super jazzy and traditional (Half A Sixpence).
So rather than a musical, how about a comedy? The Play That Goes Wrong will guaruantee to have you and your family in stitches.
I saw it around a year ago now and i’ve never been in a theatre that has erupted with quite that much laughter before, it had me in tears and would make a seriously amazing gift for all musicalphobes.
Tickets available here and start at £25.
For Your Grandparents
Grandparents can be tricky to buy for and if you’re looking to play it safe go for a traditional theatre experience! There are plenty of classic musicals on in London at the moment, but the one everyone seems to be talking about is Half A Sixpence.
The musical is currently showing at the Noel Coward Theatre and has had such rave reviews it has now extended its booking right through until April – but get in quick!
This feel good classic with recognisable songs (flash bang wallop what a picture!) would make a cute festive night out with Grandma and Grandad.
Tickets available here and start at £15.50.
For Your Boyfriend Or Girlfriend
When buying a gift for your other half, you want something special that’s truly going to make it feel like date night. Obviously this can vary on your taste, but if you’re not sure what their taste in theatre is playing it safe might be the best bet.
Stomp has been shaking London with its quirky percussive skills for 11 years. It’s always had fantastic reviews and you and your partner will be annoying the hell out of each other for weeks playing the pots and pans rhythmically while you do the washing up.
But I promise you other than that, it’ll make a great gift!
Tickets available here and start at £29.
